Tommy Fleetwood, DP World, and Emirates Golf Federation Champion Golf Development with New Event at Jumeirah Golf Estates

Monday 14th October; Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Jumeirah Golf Estates, managed by Dubai Golf, is set to host a landmark event that represents a significant milestone in the development of junior and amateur golf in the region.

This exciting initiative, aimed at nurturing the next generation of elite golfers, has been made possible through the successful partnership between Tommy Fleetwood’s academy at Jumeirah Golf Estates at the DP World Golf Performance Centre, DP World, the Emirates Golf Federation, and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA). Together, these stakeholders are fostering an environment that promotes the growth of young golfing talent.

The upcoming tournament, part of the prestigious International Pathway Series, will be held at Jumeirah Golf Estates and organised in partnership with the AJGA. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing grassroots golf. By bringing this event to Dubai, Tommy Fleetwood and key stakeholders are creating invaluable opportunities for young golfers to showcase their skills on an international stage, further enhancing the region’s standing in global golf.

Tommy Fleetwood, a global golf icon and champion of youth development, expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament. “It’s a great privilege to host the UAE’s first AJGA events,” said Fleetwood to Khaleej Times, the Dubai-based silver medallist at the 2025 Paris Olympic Games.

DP World, a longstanding supporter of golf in the region, continues to play a pivotal role in the sport's growth at all levels. Their commitment to fostering talent aligns seamlessly with the goals of the Emirates Golf Federation and Jumeirah Golf Estates. This collaboration underscores the ambition to provide junior and amateur golfers with the resources and platforms necessary for success, ensuring that Dubai remains a global leader in golf development.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Fleetwood said of DP World, “Their support of these three events in the UAE now bridges the link between junior golfers and elite amateurs, giving everyone in the region a chance at every level, whether that’s starting golf for the first time or playing in a professional tournament.”

The AJGA, renowned for shaping future golf stars, will oversee the tournament’s structure, ensuring a high standard of competition and providing a pathway for young golfers to potentially launch their professional careers. Bringing the AJGA to Dubai highlights the international significance of the event, which will attract some of the most talented junior players from around the world.

The tournament will take place from Tuesday, 15th October to Thursday, 17th October on the Earth Course, the same course played by World No. 10 and DP World Tour champions. This event offers junior golfers a clear pathway to nurturing their talent on a global stage.

The field will include 72 junior golfers, comprising 61 boys and 11 girls, competing in this open competition, which marks the first Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Junior Order of Merit tournament of the season. Fleetwood expressed his excitement about the event, the first of three AJGA tournaments in the UAE, which will carry World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points, supported by The R&A.

The AJGA has a prestigious history of developing players who have gone on to excel at the highest levels of amateur, collegiate, and professional golf. Notable alumni include Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Collin Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Tiger Woods, Paula Creamer, Jessica and Nelly Korda, Christie Kerr, Stacy Lewis, Inbee Park, Lexi Thompson, and Rose Zhang.

Hosting this event at Jumeirah Golf Estates is fitting, given the venue’s long-standing commitment to excellence in golf. As home to the annual DP World Tour Championship, Jumeirah Golf Estates has a rich history of hosting prestigious events, and this tournament further strengthens its role in the sport’s development. With its world-class facilities and the expertise of Dubai Golf, the venue is the ideal setting for young golfers to flourish.
