Anca Mateiu Crowned 2025 Ladies Club Champion at Emirates Golf Club
Wednesday 26th February 2025; Dubai, United Arab Emirates: On Sunday 23rd February, Emirates Golf Club hosted the opening round of the Ladies’ Club Championship on the Faldo Course, followed by the second round on the Majlis Course on 25th. February in windy conditions. A total of 39 women competed in a Stroke Play format.
The 2025 Ladies Club Champion was Anca Mateiu, who claimed the title with rounds of (70) and (76) for a total of (146), (+2). Anca began round one with a birdie on Hole 2, followed by additional birdies on holes 7 and 9, maintaining her momentum throughout the round. She continued strong on the back nine, with birdies on holes 10, 14, and 18. Despite a bogey-bogey start in round two, Anca quickly recovered with a birdie on Hole 7. She then made pars on holes 10 and 11 before a bogey on Hole 12. However, she responded with birdies on holes 15 and 17, to claim victory.
The runner-up was Jayshree Gupta, who finished with scores of (80) and (78) for a total of (158), (+14). Jayshree had a strong start on the Faldo Course, making a birdie on Hole 1. However, she encountered some challenges with dropped shots on holes 6, 7, and 8. Despite this, she managed to steady her play on the back nine, completing round one with a score of (80). In round two, Jayshree began with a birdie on Hole 2, but a bogey on the third followed. She then bounced back with consecutive birdies on holes 10 and 11, ultimately securing her position as runner-up.
In third place was Nonita Chand, who finished with scores of (80) and (81) for a total of (161), (+17). She began round one with a bogey on Hole 1 but responded with three consecutive pars on holes 2, 3, and 4. However, she followed this with bogeys on holes 5, 6, and 7. Despite the setbacks, Nonita kept her composure and shot a gross 40 on the back nine in round one. The highlight of Nonita's second round came on the back nine, where she played the last four holes in one under par.
Net 36 Holes
The winner of the Silver Division (+3.5 -11.5 index) was Shiba Wahid, who posted rounds of (73) and (68) for a total of (141), (-3 net). Shiba began her first round with net birdies on holes 4 and 5, but she followed this with bogeys on holes 8 and 9. However, she steadied her play and made a net eagle on Hole 14, along with net birdies on holes 15 and 17, finishing round one in a strong position. Two strokes behind going into round two, Shiba made net birdies on holes 3 and 4. She carried this momentum into the back nine, making net birdies on holes 10 and 12, and a net eagle on Hole 16, finishing her round on a high note.
The winner of the Bronze Division (12-36 index) was Emirates Golf Club Lady Captain Josie Tracey, who finished with rounds of (72) and (69) for a total of (141), (-3). Josie got off to a fast start with a net eagle on Hole 1, followed by a net birdie on the challenging 6th Hole. She played a strong back nine in round two, making five net birdies.
Daily Gross
Best Gross: Round One
Chitose Okada secured the Best Gross of day one with a score of (78), (+6). After a bogey on the opening Hole, she followed up with seven consecutive pars before ending the front nine with a bogey on Hole 9.
Best Gross: Round Two
Arathi Appaiah claimed Best Gross on day two with a score of (82), (+10 BB9). After a challenging front nine, she made a strong comeback on the back nine, carding a (39) that included a gross birdie on Hole 16.
Daily Net
Best Net: Round One
Naima Maya won the best net in round one with a net (71), (-1). Naima finished the back nine of the Faldo Course strong, making net birdies on holes 14, 15, 16, and 18 to complete an impressive round.
Best Net: Round Two
Yana Jamieson won the best net on day two with a score of Net 67 (-5). She got off to a fast start, making a net birdie on Hole 1 followed by a net eagle on Hole 3. Yana carried that momentum into the back nine, where she added net birdies on holes 10, 14, 15, and 16 to secure the Best Net of the day.
