Dubai Golf Proudly Supports Inaugural Golf Is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge

Friday 18th October 2024; Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The Golf is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge is a new pilot initiative, supported by The R&A and Emirates Golf Federation, aimed at introducing golf activities as part of the 2024 Dubai Fitness Challenge. This month-long celebration of fitness and wellness across the Emirate, running from 26th October to 24th November, offers free access to golf-related events at nine venues across Dubai.

Introducing Golf to Dubai Fitness Challenge Participants

Initiated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the Dubai Fitness Challenge encourages participants to complete 30 minutes of exercise daily for 30 days, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Participants of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which expects over 2.4 million registrations, will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of golf activities for the first time. These include lessons, access to practice facilities, fitness sessions, simulators, and a community walk at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Neal Graham, Golf Development Manager - Middle East and India at The R&A, commented, “The R&A is aiming to raise awareness of the considerable health benefits of golf by offering activities throughout this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge. This initiative is an excellent example of how we are supporting national associations around the world to deliver development initiatives that will continue to boost participation in golf and see the sport thrive in the future.”

General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, added, “Dubai Fitness Challenge is an outstanding platform to make our sport accessible to people of the Emirate of Dubai to try, perhaps for the first time. There are vast health benefits that come from playing golf, and over the next month, we hope to encourage people to consider golf as part of their regular health and fitness routine.”

Golf's Proven Health Benefits

Research from The R&A highlights that golfers live five years longer on average and are at a lower risk of loneliness. The study also revealed that golf can help prevent and treat over 40 chronic diseases, while improving strength, balance, and overall fitness, particularly in older people.

Dubai Golf’s Month-Long Support for Fitness & Golf

Dubai Golf will be a proud supporter of Golf is Good by hosting a variety of events throughout the month at Emirates Golf Club, Topgolf Dubai, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and Jumeirah Golf Estates. Events include complimentary golf lessons, gameplay at Topgolf Dubai, and the Walk the Course event at Jumeirah Golf Estates, reinforcing Dubai Golf’s commitment to promoting the health benefits of the sport.

In addition to its physical benefits, Dubai Golf will use the platform to raise awareness of men’s mental health throughout Movember. This initiative will offer an opportunity for participants to experience the mental health benefits of golf, alongside its ability to foster social connections and encourage physical activity within each Dubai Fitness Challenge activity.

The Golf is Good initiative will also extend to other notable venues in Dubai, including Dubai Hills Golf Club, Five Iron Golf, Golf Tec United Arab Emirates, MyGolf Dubai, and The Els Club Dubai. Furthermore, the Emirates Golf Federation will host introductory sessions of The R&A’s Unleash Your Drive in Schools programme at local schools and the DP World Tour Championship, which will feature golf lessons and a Mini Golf Sixes competition.

The Golf is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge is proudly supported by The R&A, Emirates Golf Federation, and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, with additional support from the DP World Tour and Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
