Teams for the 27th Edition of the Viya Golf Trophy Announced
Tuesday 12th May 2026; Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Viya is pleased to announce the teams for the 2025 - 2026 season-ending Viya Golf Trophy. Formerly known as the Dubai Golf Trophy, the newly named event will once again bring together the UAE’s leading male and female golfers for a Ryder Cup-style showdown across two competitive days on 17 and 18 May 2026.
Players earned their places through the Emirates PGA and Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit rankings, determined by their best six finishes throughout the season. The event will once again see the top 12 professionals and top 12 amateurs automatically qualify for the season finale.
The remaining four places on each side are selected as Captain’s Picks by Professional Captain Sujjan Singh and Amateur Captain Jay Mullane. Captains Picks selections for the Professional team required players to have competed in a minimum of five Emirates PGA events throughout the season, while Amateur selections required at least five UAE Open appearances.
Speaking on behalf of the Amateur team, Amateur Captain Jay Mullane commented: “As for this year’s Viya Golf Trophy, I’ve been excited since the last event finished tied. I think this year is set to be an exciting one for everyone involved. Our team is one of the strongest we’ve ever had, and every player selected has worked hard to earn their place. Everyone is ready and raring to go, and I’m really looking forward to what promises to be another fantastic edition of the Viya Golf Trophy.”
The event will once again feature the Ladies Challenge Match, where the top two Professional Ladies will compete against the top two Amateur Ladies, based on their respective Order of Merit standings.
Despite a strong challenge from the Professionals, the Amateurs retained the previously named Dubai Golf Trophy during the 2025 finale following a dramatic 16–16 tie on the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club. As one of the longest-standing golf tournaments in the United Arab Emirates, the Amateurs return this year having claimed victory in nine of the last 10 editions of the prestigious event.
On behalf of the Professional team, Professional Captain Sujjan Singh said: “The EPGA season has seen unprecedented participation from professionals competing to qualify for the team, with the standard of golf among the strongest we’ve seen in recent years. We have an excellent balance of rookies and players who have represented the team for many years, with our strength built on the camaraderie and experience we share. We’re all looking forward to Sunday morning!”
