Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club reinforces its sustainability position with third GEO Certified® status

Thursday 21st May 2026; Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is proud to announce that it has achieved GEO Certified® status for 2025, recognising the club’s continued commitment to environmental stewardship, resource efficiency and community engagement. The certification marks Dubai Creek’s third GEO Certified® award, following earlier certifications in 2016 and 2019, with renewal due in 2028.

Awarded by the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf following an independent verification and evaluation process, GEO Certified® is the most respected certification in golf sustainability. This recognition confirms that Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club has met the required standards across key areas including nature, resources and community.

The independent verifier’s report confirmed Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club for delivering playing conditions of a very high standard while embedding sustainability across all aspects of its operations. The assessment highlighted the club’s strong performance in water efficiency, responsible water sourcing, renewable energy, recycling practices and community engagement.

A major focus of Dubai Creek’s recent sustainability progress has been water management. Following the complete renovation of the irrigation system in 2024, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club improved its efficiency and reduced water consumption, while continuing to irrigate the course using 100% treated sewage effluent (TSE). Advanced TurfRad and POGO moisture-monitoring technologies have also been introduced to support more precise irrigation practices in a water-scarce region.

The report also recognised Dubai Creek’s wider environmental efforts, including the discontinuation of winter overseeding since 2020, investment in on-site solar infrastructure, the planting of more than 700 Ghaf trees over the last six years, and the creation of biodiversity-supporting areas including a dedicated beehive zone on the course.

Community engagement also forms an important part of the club’s sustainability approach. The GEO report highlighted Dubai Creek’s partnership with the local Bee Federation, school visits focused on environmental education, the annual Pink Day in support of breast cancer awareness, and the club’s signing of The R&A Women in Golf Charter. The club’s reduction in single-use plastics, supported by reusable metal bottles and refill stations across the course, was also recognised.

Discussing the club’s achievement, Kelli Jerome, Executive Director of GEO Foundation, shared: “Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club can claim a position as a leader in advancing sustainability in golf, making important contributions in protecting nature, conserving resources, and strengthening communities.”

Set alongside the iconic Dubai Creek and close to Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, the club continues to implement progressive sustainability initiatives designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining championship-level playing conditions.

Christopher May, Chief Executive Officer of Viya, said: “This recognition reflects the hard work and commitment of the entire team at Dubai Creek. Sustainability is an important part of how we operate every day, from the way we manage water and energy to how we support biodiversity and engage with the wider community. Achieving GEO Certified® status again is an important milestone for the club and a positive step in our long-term commitment to responsible golf.”

This latest recognition reinforces Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club’s long-term vision of delivering world-class golf experiences while making a positive contribution to the environment and wider community.
